Counties March 03, 2022, 08:07:18 AM Hi,I've been using this app for a couple of years now and overall I'm really happy with it. The one thing I can't figure out is the counties feature. Every time I turn it on the app basically freezes or at least the live map. I have to exit the app and turn the counties off before I can use it again. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or maybe I have to get a more expensive phone - I have a pixel 4a and a galaxy s8 active before that. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks
Re: Counties Reply #1 – March 03, 2022, 08:14:47 AM How many states are you trying to display? Counties use map overlays to draw boundaries and names. The more you try to display the more work the phone has to do. Limit the states to just one or a few that you are working on to minimize effort the Android map has to do to draw them.
Re: Counties Reply #2 – March 03, 2022, 08:41:34 AM That fixed it, I had all 50 states set to display. I reduced it to 1 and now it works. On the other hand, now every county is shaded, even the ones I haven't geocached in. Do you know how I could fix that?
Re: Counties Reply #3 – March 03, 2022, 01:23:59 PM Oh, yeah having all the states on will really impact the map performance... and it's Android doing the rendering not Geooh. I usually only turn on states and their neighbors for county runs.I've never heard of the shading staying on. Try turning county boundaries off, then restart the app to see if it clears up. Let me know.
