Offline maps not generates without wifi connection

Hi,
I'm using offline maps and I discovered, that these are not generated when I'm outside. Only previously generated (cached) tiles are show. But If I zoom in, I got blank map and tiles are not generated. But as soon as i come home, where I connect to wifi, tiles are generated. So it looks like there is some setting that prevent tiles generation without wifi.

Is it possible or I miss something?

I can't replicate that. Geooh is using Mapsforge software to render the offline map tiles and there is no dependency on the network. Mapsforge is using a tile cache so possibly blank tiles are being stored? I'll continue looking, but so far I'm not seeing a cause. See if you can determine a pattern and let me know.

It looks like something crashed and maps are no more generated. I have to restart Geooh to make it work.

And this is after Geooh restart - missing tiles are generated. Only access to wifi is not enough,

It seems like it happen after restore. I've now open Geooh, the restoring dialog was shown and after a while Geooh restored app - shown the map. Now when I move around and zoom, no new tiles are generated.

Sorry for late reply, we were not caching recently.

I've made some tests. The issue is present on My and my Wife's phone as weell. The workaround I've found is exit Geooh, using several press of Back button, then open running applications list and swipe out Geooh, so app is completely terminated and unloaded from memory. Then after new start of Geooh, my offline maps works without issue, missing tiles are generated.

How to reproduce:
  • Open Geooh, make sure you are using offline maps
  • Choose list
  • Open map view
  • Go to unexplored area and check that tiles are generated
  • Use "Home" button to switch to desktop
  • Use Memory hungry applications like Web browser so Geooh is unloaded from memory.
  • Open Geooh again
  • Application restores and immediately switch to map view.
  • Go to unexplored area, try different zooms - you should noticed blank tiles that are not rendering
  • Do a workaround (exit Geooh, wipe it from memory)
  • Start Geooh again
  • Go to area with blank tiles, will be rendered this time.

My guess is, that there is something wrong in the map view restore process. Seems like tiles rendering is not started, only cached tiles is shown.

OK, I found the issue. It was what I thought where Mapsforge wasn't fully re-initialized after a restore of the app. I believe I have got it working correctly now. The next release will have the fix in it.

Thanks again for letting me know how to replicate it. The detail information was just what I needed!

So currently maps in lists does not work at all. Only #Live map is working.

Morning I've opened map in my ValMez list. They worked correctly for a while. But then I've rotated display, map view rotated as well, but without map from that time. And I'm not able to make it work again. I've tried restart Geooh, restart phone, clear Geooh cache, but still no map, only white display. Later I've found, that the #Live map is working. But nothing more.

I'm not sure if this is connected or it is a new issue as I've switched to a new phone Google Pixel 4a 5G with Android 11.

I can't replicate that. All my offline lists show fine on an offline map.

Does the map list (side drawer on map) show caches? Are they located in an area where there is no offline map? What does Google maps look like?

You could send me the offline list exported and also your settings to see I can figure it out.

It was probably connected with data transfer to new phone. I've deleted all app data, re-imported lists and map works again.

False allarm. Sorry.
