Two issues with v11.2.8 that I updated last night.
First when I look at someone's profile from a caches "View profile" the upper part of the page above the "Tabs" displays my profile stats and pictures every time but from the "Tabs" row down it's their profile information.
Second is the "Newest" search has lost something. When I looked this morning for what caches may have been published overnight, I just get one already found cache nearby when yesterday I got more than 10 with 2 FTF. Rechecking those FTF from the previous search, I still see them as unfound FTF. I have notice that over the last few updates that this feature had started to show issues like the "Newest" listing not updating the icons of new caches to your FTF icon (like previous versions) unless selected and that listing is not highlighted any longer.
Thanks for your time and all the hard work you put in to keep this awesome app going...
Just having a small annoyance in the process of adding pictures to a log.
When adding pictures to the cache logging process, you select to grab the photo from the Gallery, the sorting of the directory displayed each time you enter defaults to "File name (A to Z)". Have to go into setting and change the sorting to "Modified (newest first)" to get the most recent photos added to displayed. Could you add to the request for the directory displayed to default to the "Most Recent" photo to save the extra steps required each time to find the pictures just taken. Running a Samsung S9 android.
I'll try some different ways to load these files to see if I can narrow it down better. This case I did merge 2 together. It was strange because I merged file1 (29 caches) into file 2 (98) and it kept the name it file1 (made it 127) and removed file 2. Then when I tried to delete it, started messing with another file 3 (which had been there for a while) that was totally separate. Had to remove them all and start over. I will dig into it further and get back.. Have a trip where I can really test..
Have notice this issue before when trying to remove a downloaded file either in a GPX form or a Bookmark List. You download one file and it seems to delete it fine but have more than one file loaded and it does some strange stuff from adding the 2 together to copying the file with and empty listing even though it shows the count. As you see in the first picture, I have multiple listings of the same files. This was caused by my trying to delete one of them over and over. The second picture is what happen when I just deleted the top "Hidden Month Fort Worth". It didn't delete that file name and added to the bottom another copy of "Hidden Date DFW". Looking at the files individually the 2 "Fort Worth" files are empty and the other 3 "DFW" files are all the same. Both files worked fine before I tried to delete the "Fort Worth" File. I have to exit out of the app totally to correct the issue. When reloaded it has just one file the DFW. I have tried to delete 1 of 4 files download, have to reset to cleanup, and had it come back with one 1 of the 3 files that should be remaining. If I stay with one file at a time all is ok. It's when I have more than one file loaded that things get confused while merging or deleting. This happens with downloaded bookmark list and GPX files from Geocaching.com and/or Project-gc GPX's files.
Didn't have the "Notify" turned on and missed your replies. I just disable the "County" manager and all works normal from what I can see. Thanks for such a quick reply and hope this overlay issue isn't too bad. I really use this feature in your app more than getting the info from Project-GC... Big time saver when searching for a quick grab... Do we have a way to send you a copy of the exported "Settings" files with these issues when we find them? Not sure if it would help. Again thanks and keep up the good work...
I have just downloaded the update to v10.5 and trying to select a cache from the map and get nothing. App keeps saying I have to select a cache even when I have one selected. Displays a whole new popup but won't select the cache to navigate to. Can't seem to get any thing to work when it comes to locating GZ with the app, whether I use Live Maps or a downloaded list, doesn't show distance to cache. No way to log if I found it or not as well.... Just a Heads up. Running on a android Samsung s9.
Yes it was during a found log. Sorry but I just checked my most recent finds to my current counter and numbers were correct. Not sure but maybe it just had a hick up. I first notice it more than a month ago when we did a run from a e-mailed/downloaded GPX file. Didn't really put much thought to it till looking over some past finds I saw that some of the logs numbers recorded were off when compared to what Geocaching.com listed. I know this isn't a big deal so we'll monitor issue further. At this point problem may have corrected itself. After all there are a number of things that could affect the count after the fact. Thanks for the time.
Ran across a small issue that I hadn't caught before. Deals with inserting your found count in logs with the placeholder [NUMBER]. It inserts the number fine but it's off by one. When you grab the number before the log is done, the count is for your last find total. When I logged my 2000th find, the count showed in log was #1,999. We just need to add 1 to the retreived count to show the new corrected find total before log is completed. Really enjoying the app and thanks for your efforts to keep up with the bugs. Happy Holidays...
Still getting use to your app but I thought I was in my list when I logged 3 caches that morning thru you app. All I saw on the map was what was in my list of 15 caches I had selected in 7 counties of Texas. East time I log one I went right back to the couple of caches that were in that list... If this is not an option then I'll work off of the downloaded list but you should look at making a way to use the "List" as a filtered to do the same. I see that you can download a "List" or as you label "Bookmark List" when I though these were 2 different things in Geocache.com. You have "Bookmark List" and you have just "List"
If I select the "List" option in the "Drawer" and then select a "Named list of caches" that was created using geocache.com. The attached picture is of the screen shot that shows the popup when I select a cache from that list to do anything with, log, view, etc.
If I select "Geocaches" from the "Drawer" then go to "Live Map" and select the same cache, I get the full list of options. Should be the same popup of that cache with no difference... I just tried to do this at home with great WiFi and results are the same. Can't do much of anything with a cache selected from a "List" but live works find.
I was using this "List" option that morning and it worked find but then tried to used it later that evening and this screen popped up.
Notice over the weekend that we had received an update to v10.2.14 which corrected previous issue of "Template" logging (Thanks) but with this update, I've lost all options of logging a cache that is in a "List" of caches. Used this feature of loading a "List" of caches Saturday on the weekend trip we planed. I logged 3 caches with no issues early Saturday morning. Later that day I was unable to log any cache in any list from the app anymore. Lost all options but "Show on Map, Navigate to, and Go to web page". Went to 'Live Map" and logging was find so used it the rest of trip. Also notice that "Snippets" stop as well but didn't get to test much. Still can't get the addition of the "Found using Geooh Go" to logs when using "Template" file. Really hope we can get all the bugs worked out of the logging section since you have really made it powerful with all its options.
Just an added thought:
1. Not sure if it can be done but being able to use the "Placeholders" in the "Log Header and/or Footer" section like they are used in the "Template" file. I would then use the internal "Header/Footer" logging process more often because you can change/personalize these log entries quickly if needed. Using the "Template" file input for the special stuff.
2. If above can't be done then if we could use still use the "Log" text input line during the logging process with a "Template" file to add a personal input to a log as a header (optional). This could be useful ether way.
Sorry got called off by the American Red Cross to deploy back east and now just getting back to my life. What I was saying is the signature doesn't show at end of log with flag set. I had only notice this when I was using the Template flag set and not sure if it's the same in any other method of logging. Haven't had a chance to play since last communication so no further testing since then. Will update more when I can. Thanks for your time.
Thanks for the quick reply. If you are going to dig into that issue there's one more I notice in the same area. You have a flag to add to my log a "Found by Geooh GO". This doesn't work if you are using the external Template file. Just something else to throw into the fire. Thanks again for such a great app in which I have only scratched the surface of what I can do with it.
I got the Log Templates working again with it finding my file good and using it with placeholders correctly (v10.2.12). The issue I have is with the logging process. When I wish to log a cache as a find and I have the "Use Template File" flag checked, it still requires me to input an entry on the "Log Text" line. At first I though it would allow me to add this entry to the beginning of the Template file but no matter what I put into this field it goes nowhere??? This adds 4 extra steps in the log process of just putting something in to that line to log the caches which is not needed if all the info is in the Template file. Need to make the "Log Text" line not mandatory when the "Use Template File" flag is checked and if you do input something there it could be added to the start of the Template text as a special entry for just that cache. Just a thought
